I’m so excited to share with you our experience aboard Disney’s Dream! We did a 4 night Bahamian itinerary for this trip sailing out of Port Canaveral Florida. A Disney Cruise is such an amazing vacation to be able to have adventure and rest all in one. You get family time and adult time so everyone is happy!
Day 1/Night 1:
Embarkation
We got in the day before and spent the night in Port Canaveral (You can see the ships from our hotel), so Embarkation Day went really smooth for us. We slept in and had our free breakfast at our hotel. Jumped on the shuttle and we were off to the port. Since we took the shuttle, our driver handled our luggage. We just made sure all 4 were given to the bag handlers once we got off the shuttle. After all luggage was accounted for, we headed to security. We made it through security with our day bags and jumped in line for check in. At check in, they took our photos, got our key to the world cards, and our youngest got her band for her club since we registered her when doing our online check in.
After checked in, we got in line to meet Captain Mickey and then waited for our boarding number to be called. Minnie was there as well, but our number was called and my crew was ready to board. We even by passed the photo opportunity inside the gangway. One of the best things about boarding a Disney Cruise ship is hearing the cast members welcome aboard your family!
Once on board we went to have lunch at Cabanas, signed our oldest up for Edge, toured the ship, took some photos, had some deck 11 ice cream (OF COURSE!) and headed to the open house for all the kid clubs. Disney Cruise Line youth clubs are divided into age categories as follows - Oceaneer club & Oceaneer Lab are for ages 3-12 years old, Edge is for ages 11-14 years old, and Vibe is for ages 14-17 years old. There is even a nursery onboard called It’s a Small world for ages 6 months to 3 years old.
After youth open house, we had some time before we had to be at the Mandatory Assembly Drill, so we found out stateroom! This trip we choose to do a different category than before so that we could experience the difference. This trip we had a Deluxe Oceanview Stateroom, category 9b. We were in stateroom 2552. Check out the room tour below!
Sailing Away
After the Mandatory Drill was the Sailing Away! The Sailing Away is usually on Deck 11, however it was raining so they brought the fun inside to the lobby atrium! Here's a peak!
Royal Palace
After Sailing Away we had about 30 minutes until our dining started. Tonight's dining - Royal Palace! For appetizers my oldest had Red Lobster and Jumbo Shrimp, my hubby had Duck Confit, and I had Breaded and Deep Fried Brie. My daughter had a Garden salad with ranch dressing from her children's Menu. For Soups and Salads my hubby had Red Wine Bose Pear Salad, while my son and I did Farmhouse Salads.
For our main course, my son had Roasted Rack of Lamb Medium while my husband and I had Chateaubriand-Roasted Filet Steak. My daughter chose a mini burger (without the bun) from her children menu choices.
The best Part: Desserts! My son had the Classic Opera Gateau and I had the strawberry shortcake sundae. My husband couldn’t decide between the Grand Marnier Souffle or the Apple Tart Tatin. So of course our waiter brought him both! My daughter had Mickey Ice Cream Bar!
The Golden Mickeys
We ended the night with Disney’s The Golden Mickeys (Disney’s Live shows are ah-mazing!) We got to the show a little early to grab good seats and I was able to take this photo to show you how beautiful the Walt Disney Theater. However for safety reasons (and for the person sitting behind you!) you’re not allowed to take photos or videos during the show.
On the way out we caught Rapunzel before heading to our stateroom for the night!
Day 2/Night 2
Today we docked at Nassau, Bahamas. Instead of getting off the ship, we chose this time to use the pool! Before heading to the pool we were able to see Princess Sofia, Vampirina, and Stitch!
After a day of swimming we got ready for dinner. Since tonight was optional dress up, we got some character & family photos before heading to Animator’s Palate.
Animator’s Palate
Our rotation dinner for tonight is Animator’s Palate. We love eating here. It’s so much fun! Our appetizers were Sliced Serrano Ham, Black Truffle Pasta, and Tomato Tarte. We also had a Baked Potato and Cheddar Cheese Soup.
Our main course included Grilled Tuna Steak, Lemon-Thyme Marinated All-Natural Chicken Breast and Herb-Crusted Pork Chop. My daughter went with a cheese pizza off of her children’s menu.
For dessert we had strawberry ice cream, Crunch Walnut Cake and Chocolate Fudge Cheesecake.
After dinner, the kids went to their clubs, while we had a quick date night with deck 11 ice cream and strolling around the ship. Then off to see Disney’s Believe before calling it a night.
Day 3 - Castaway Cay
Yes, the day we’ve been waiting for is here! We grabbed breakfast before running into Jesse! After Jesse, we were off to enjoy Castaway Cay. The weather was perfect-cloudy. We had a quick rain storm - but we ate lunch at Cookie’s BBQ during and was back enjoying the beach right after.
Once on board, we got into our pirate outfits and was ready for pirate’s night! On our way to dinner we ran into Pirate Minnie and had to get our picture!
For Pirate night we were back at Animator’s Palate, but with a pirate themed menu! Our appetizers were Angelica’s Lime Marinated Shrimp and Deep Fried Calypso Crab Cake. Soups and Salads included Chilled Mango Soup and Baby Gem salad. For our main courses we went with Jack’s Treasure of the Seas, Tia Dalma’s Jerk Chicken and Cortes’s Cilantro Marinated Caribbean Grouper Filet. Our daughter asked for a bowl of fruit and Grilled Chicken Skewer.
For Dessert we had a Caramel Macadamia Nut Cheesecake Tart, Bananas in Paradise and Rum-soaked Chocolate Cake. Our daughter wanted a cheesecake and it was not on the menu. However our wonderful service was able to grab her some strawberry cheesecake. Our wait staff was amazing!
As soon as we were finished eating we went straight to see Captain Jack Sparrow! Thankfully we got there right before the crowd came!
We headed to Deck 11 for Mickey’s Pirates in the Caribbean! This is so much fun for the little ones!
More characters before calling it a night! We ended up watching fireworks from our room. We had one kid that wanted to see characters and then go to bed and our oldest wanted to be in his club. IF you haven’t seen Disney’s fireworks at sea - you definitely don’t want to skip it! (We saw them on another cruise which is why our kids chose other activities)
Day 4/Night 5 - Day at Sea!
We had breakfast at Cabanas together and then the kids were off to their clubs! While the kids were away, hubby and I delivered our pixie dusting gifts throughout the ship and caught the Disney at Sea with D23! We gathered back together to watch Captain Marvel, but our youngest was ready to go back to her club. {Funny Story - an elder man in front of us went to sleep during the movie, during the movie there was character knocking, the poor man woke up hollering, “Who is it”! It was all we could do to hold it together!}
My youngest and I went to the character dance party! This was so much fun!
Our last dinner rotation was at Enchanted Garden. Our appetizers consisted of Cucumber Garden Roll, North Atlantic Lobster Ravioli and Ahi Tuna and Avocado Tower. We had the Spinach and Raspberry Salad.
Our main courses were Pan Seared Sea Bass and Seared Pork Tenderloin Medallions.
For desserts Cheesecake Brownie, Southern Style Pecan Tart, and a Chocolate Brownie Sundae.
Before heading to see Beauty and the Beast, we did some pin trading at Officer Pin Trading gathering and grab a picture with Captain Hook and Smee!
After watching the amazing Beauty and the Beast show, we sadly went to go see the See Ya Real Soon. This is the saddest part of the trip since it reminds you that you’re getting off the ship tomorrow!
Day 5 -Disembarkation
Sadly, our experience on the Disney Dream has come to an end. Before we left, we were able to have one last yummy breakfast.
